The Rarible Protocol can be viewed as the "backend" to NFT applications. Building on the rarible protocol means you benefit from work various other team are doing on this backend. This includes for example: -new auction mechanisms, -updates to the indexer, -new forms of NFT ownership, -public goods like drop interfaces, -etc
Rarible Protocol: TLDR
- High Level
- Rarible protocol is aiming to become the liquidity layer for NFTs: ie, the place where you can buy/sell NFTs from every app, while retaining royalties / fees for those apps.
Ways to use the Rarible Protocol
- Example 1: Integrate your Externally Minted NFTs to the protocol
- Example 2: Building a Marketplace on the Protocol
- Example 3: Using our Indexer to find, sort, NFTs and collections from any blockchain we support
- Example 4: List items for sale from your application
- Example 5: Accept offers on your NFTs within applications
- Example 6: Mint NFTs

Zora vs. Rarible Protocol
- we have an indexer. This is super useful, and are talking to most the major wallets about integration with it
- our indexer is also on Flow and Polygon, and will allow the listing of basically all NFTs as we expand to different chains
- we allow externally minted NFTs to integrate (so basically all NFTs can work on the protocol). I think zora are limited to zora minted NFTs.
- we have both an on-chain and off-chain order book
